Subaru Loves to Care Event
At Ruge’s Subaru, we’ve decided that one of the best ways to use all the cargo space in our vehicles is to fill them with LOVE. Not sure what we mean by that? Well, here’s an example: as part of the Subaru Loves to Care® initiative, we recently loaded up some of our favorite models (like the Subaru Ascent, Outback, Crosstrek, and Forester) with boxes of blankets.
We drove them up the road to our very own Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck (where our owners actually spend their free time volunteering in leadership trustee roles and have raised millions of dollars to optimize the quality of healthcare in our region).
This donation represents a nationwide effort on the part of Subaru and retailers like us to bring some warmth and healing to people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. Since 2016, Subaru and retailers have supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS). In addition to the blanket donations, which come with supportive messages of hope written by retailers and Subaru customers, Subaru also sent financial support to LLS. If you made an online gift to LLS.org in June, Subaru matched those donations dollar for dollar, up to $150,000 in total!
If you aren’t familiar with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society®, you should know that it is considered the global leader in the fight against blood cancers. Since 1949, it has invested over $1.6 billion to research and make available new treatments like immunotherapies. We are in awe of the many ways they work to provide blood cancer patients and their families with the support needed to navigate diagnosis, treatment, and care.
All of this represents our ongoing commitment to paying it forward. At Ruge’s Subaru, we believe deeply in the shared responsibility we all have to one another. Thank you to all involved with the blanket donation initiative and to all who support the good work of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®. And as always, thank you to everyone at Northern Dutchess Hospital for all you do to ensure the health and well-being of everyone throughout the Hudson Valley.
