Miniature Horse Catches a Ride! - Beth S.

The Southlands Foundation in Rhinebeck, NY is a 501c3 charity organization with a mission to provide the community with a place to connect to nature and your inner peace. They provide therapeutic riding and emotional support using horses. Miniature horses are good since they are small, easily handled and loved by all. The Southlands Foundation purchased a baby miniature horse for their therapeutic program. It was time to pick up the baby. Normally horse trailers are used but with the size of the miniature it was dangerous. A Subaru vehicle came to the rescue. A Subaru Forrester was a perfect choice to transport the miniature horse. After a 40 minute ride, the baby was safely delivered to its new home. Thank you Subaru!

Ruge's Subaru Brings Comfort and Hope to Families at Northern Dutchess Hospital - Daniela V.

Ruge's Subaru partnered with Blood Cancer United® (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and Northern Dutchess Hospital through the Subaru Loves to Care® initiative. On June 1, 2026, Ruge's Subaru donated blankets and messages of hope to support cancer patients and their families. Northern Dutchess Hospital is incredibly grateful for Ruge's Subarus generous donation of blankets, which will be distributed to patients undergoing treatment. These thoughtful gifts help provide comfort, warmth, and encouragement during a challenging time. Representatives from Ruge's Subaru, Blood Cancer United, and Northern Dutchess Hospital came together to celebrate this meaningful donation and the impact it will have on local patients and families affected by cancer. The event highlighted the power of community partnership and a shared commitment to supporting patients throughout their cancer journey. A special thank you to the dedicated staff at Northern Dutchess Hospital, who go above and beyond every day for patients and families facing cancer. We are deeply grateful to Ruge's Subaru for their generosity, compassion, and continued commitment to "Loving to Care" for cancer patients and their loved ones.

Since 2016, Subaru and Blood Cancer United have joined forces through the Subaru Loves to Care program to bring comfort, warmth, and hope to individuals bravely battling blood cancer across the country. Year after year, this powerful partnership has made a meaningful impact in the lives of patients undergoing treatment — and this year was no exception. Ruge's Subaru proudly continued that tradition by delivering 80 blankets and heartfelt messages of hope directly to patients at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Each blanket represents far more than just physical warmth — it carries with it a message that no patient has to face their journey alone. These simple yet profound gestures serve as a daily reminder that an entire community stands behind them, rooting for their strength and recovery. For patients spending long hours in treatment, the road can feel isolating and overwhelming. That's why programs like Subaru Loves to Care matter so deeply. A soft blanket and a handwritten note of encouragement can lift a spirit, spark a smile, and provide a moment of comfort during an incredibly difficult time. That spirit comes alive every year through the Subaru Share the Love event, a tradition that has become a cornerstone of the holiday season at Ruge's. Each year, for every new Subaru purchased or leased during the event, Ruge's and Subaru of America come together to donate $300 to a charitable cause close to our hearts. And the giving doesn't stop there — we also make an additional donation for every oil change performed during the campaign, so even longtime Subaru owners can help make a difference simply by bringing their vehicle in for service. Thanks to the incredible generosity and loyalty of our customers, this ongoing partnership has allowed us to contribute over $375,000 to one of our most cherished hometown causes: the Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation. That kind of impact doesn't happen overnight — it's the result of years of support from drivers across our community who chose Ruge's, and in doing so, chose to give back. Imagine going through this winter without a good coat. For many children experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations, even here in Rhinebeck, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Ruge's Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Ruge's have helped nearly 1,000,000 people in urgent need. This January Ruge's Subaru donated 120 coats to Astor Services for Children & Families in the Village of Rhinebeck. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

From the moment of adoption, animals immediately become an extension of our families. We get to experience the incredible joy of unconditional love expressed every day by our furry friends - but they also clearly cherish every expression of our adoration. You can see it in the wagging of a dog’s tail - you can hear it in the purring of a kitten At Ruge’s, we are BIG fans of these wonderful creatures who bring boundless fun, warm affection, and healing energy to the hearts and homes of our colleagues, customers, and community members. And we are deeply grateful to be part of a brand that likewise appreciates companion animals: Subaru. Subaru’s Love Promise includes a component we are enthusiastically supporting again this year: Subaru Loves Pets™. It is estimated that about 6.3 million animals enter shelters each year - and the Subaru Loves Pets™ program aims to ensure that those animals stay healthy, and safe, and ultimately move into long-term homes where they can live happily ever after! Through this initiative, Subaru stores all over the country are working to connect shelter animals with forever families; they have also collectively donated over $42 million to national and local organizations for the rescue, transport, adoption, and healthcare needs of about 350,000 pets. Here at Ruge’s, it has become our tradition to help carry out the objectives of the Subaru Loves Pets™ campaign by supporting our friends at the Dutchess County SPCA. Each year, this local organization matches about 1500 animals with individuals and families - and we want to help them continue this important work. So, as has become tradition, we’ll donate $100 to the Dutchess County SPCA for the first 30 adoptions during October (the same month as one of our favorite holidays: National Make a Dog’s Day!)!

Ruge's Subaru Loves to Learn! - Patrick D.

A new school year represents the promise of learning. At Ruge’s Subaru, this means Subaru Loves Learning season is underway! We believe in supporting students all year long - whether it be through our annual sponsorships of sports teams, arts initiatives, or one of our many nonprofit commitments. The Subaru Loves Learning effort is designed to give teachers and students what they need to shine for the months ahead. Through Subaru’s partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, we make a donation that helps to bridge the gap between financial needs and resources for a local high-need school. We're excited to partner for a 3rd year with Ralph R. Smith Elementary (part of the Hyde Park School District) This school fits the criteria of the Subaru Loves Learning program - one that is considered “high need”, where 40% or more of its population qualifies for the Free or Reduced-Price Student Lunch Program. Like thousands of schools all over the country, we realize that teachers often tap their own personal bank accounts to pay for much-needed classroom supplies that neither the district (nor the families) can afford. Our Ruge’s Subaru Loves Learning donation, which amounts to $4,000, is turned into “credits” for classroom educators at Ralph R. Smith. Through an online educational marketplace, those credits can be used directly by teachers to purchase supplies and materials available to them. We love that this program is rooted in the philosophy that teachers know best what they need in order to maximize academic success for their students! Said Kristin Hutchins, CEO of Ruge’s Automotive: “Our educators and their students work tirelessly every day, all year long - and we feel that they deserve to have everything they need to maximize potential right at their fingertips. This is one way that we can help advance equity in education, while also sending the message to all of them that the community supports their educational goals. As part of the Subaru Loves to Care® program, we recently loaded up some of our favorite Subarus (like the Outback, Crosstrek, and Forester) with boxes of blankets. We drove them up the road, to Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, where our owners volunteer in leadership trustee roles, and have raised millions of dollars to improve the quality of healthcare in our region. This donation represents a nationwide effort on the part of Subaru to bring warmth and healing to people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. In 2025, it is expected that Subaru stores will support nearly 300,000 cancer patients through this initiative, which is done in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®. In addition the blanket donations come with supportive messages written by us and our customers. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is considered the “global leader in the fight against blood cancers,”. Since 1949, it has invested over $1.6 BILLION to research and make available new treatments like immunotherapies. We are in awe of the ways they work to provide blood cancer patients and their families with the support needed to navigate diagnosis, treatment, and care. All of this represents our ongoing commitment to paying it forward. At Ruge’s Subaru, we believe in the shared responsibility we all have to one another.
